The spiritual super assassin who you pick up to pitch against the collectors because? I’m not really sure why you’d need specialists like Krios or Kasumi on a do or die mission to take out the collectors home base. It’s not like sniping the head collector dude or stealing the keys to a Collector vessel ever seemed likely prospects to complete the assignment. I think we’ll have to chalk his presence down to: Needed dark brooding hero with atonement issues. Make him dying and give him a voice that makes women’s spines vibrate. Throw in some pseudo-spiritualism and voila, romantic hero galore.

I like Krios just fine despite his obvious placement as the generic moody wet dream. But his story-line with his son is a good one and Mass Effect 2 does remind us of the impact one’s actions can have on their families. Consider the overheard dialogues of the crew of the Normandy. Hadley’s brother who’s kidnapped by the collectors. The guy who gets his family to safety just before a collector attack. The Mass Effect 2 story happens much less in a vacuum than the first one did.
Anyway, say what you will about Thane but he sure knows how to play an audience:
